EMDR Therapy

1150971305You just can’t get it out of your mind.

Throughout the day… over and over again… it comes back. It pulls and sucks you in.

Your heart starts to pound… you feel the sweat on your brow.

Suddenly, you feel exactly as you did when it happened.

“But it happened so long ago!” you think.

“It doesn’t make sense…”

It’s enough to drive you crazy!

So, you just “zone out.” It’s no wonder you’re not getting done what you want to accomplish.

Instead, you try to ignore it or distract yourself. “If I just keep busy, it won’t be a problem,” you tell yourself.

Or you turn to things to numb yourself.

But you can’t stay busy or distract yourself forever.

It’s like there’s no escape.

Not even sleep helps. When you try to fall asleep, your mind races, and you’re right back there again. Your body and mind get so worked up that it takes forever to fall asleep. Plus, part of you doesn’t want to sleep because that’s when the nightmares come.

As time goes on, it affects your relationships and work. People don’t understand what is going on with you. Your boss is always unhappy with you. Going out to have fun is the last thing on your mind.

What you wouldn’t give for a moment of true peace!

But it doesn’t have to stay that way.

And with guidance, you can be a huge part of the healing process.

That’s one of the things I love most about EMDR…

It lets us tap into your inner wisdom and innate healing power!

Here’s what EMDR is…

You’ve probably heard of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), but most people don’t know exactly what it is.

With EMDR, we use bilateral stimulation (BLS) – alternating activation of the left and right sides of your body – to help your mind reprocess painful past events. BLS can use eye movement, audio sounds, or tapping/vibrating opposite sides of your body (e.g., knees, feet, or hands). We’ll use the BLS you’re most comfortable with.

BLS creates new neural pathways, which helps you heal by removing the emotional charge from distressing memories.

414614266Let’s “reprocess” those old memories.

We will use a rating scale to evaluate your distress about the topic we are working on – to use as a “thermometer,” if you will.

We’ll use that “thermometer” to measure our progress and gauge what other areas of the mind might benefit from reprocessing.

The goal is to no longer be activated or triggered, even when directly contemplating the event.

EMDR gets results.

I have seen EMDR create dramatic shifts for people. Helping others heal through EMDR is one of the most powerful and rewarding parts of my job.

It can help you, too!
